Karimnagar: Shelterless and poor people only will be allotted double bedroom houses under the 2BHK scheme, introduced by the TRS government, said MLA Gangula Kamalakar.

He inspected the ongoing construction works of double bedroom houses, Ambedkar Bhavan and Shadikhana buildings in Karimnagar on Thursday and gave necessary suggestions to the contractors.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said all the construction works, which are under progress, will be completed within a few months and will be inaugurated by Dasara festival. In the first phase, construction of about 660 double bedroom houses was taken up and will be completed within a few months. In the second phase, around 400 houses will be constructed by next year. It took two years to acquire land for the construction of 1,040 houses in Karimnagar Assembly segment, he stated.

10 acres land of Dairy development was taken up and of this, double bedroom houses construction was taken up in eight acres and Ambedkar Bhavan was being constructed in one acre and Shadikhana in one acre. Of the total Rs100 crore investment, Rs 4 crores was allotted for Ambedkar Bhavan construction and Rs 4 crores for Shadikhana construction, MLA Kamalakar explained.

Deputy Mayor Ramesh, former MPP V Ramesh, Corporators Sunil Rao, B Venu, AV Ramana, K Srinivas, Hairshankar and D Mahesh were present along with others.
