3 die, five injured in boiler explosion at Sirpur Paper Mills

Kagaznagar (Asifabad): Three construction labourers died and another five sustained serious injuries in a boiler explosion on Saturday midnight in Sirpur Paper Mills (SPM) at Kagaznagar in Asifabad district.

According to the police, labourers were digging a deep pit to erect a boiler for the paper plant and loose soil from the top fell on the labourers, who were working at the bottom of the pit. They were buried under the soil.

The deceased were identified as Chotu Bahniya, Raghunath Ram and Ranjit of Jharkhand. The injured were identified as Mallur Ranidas, Santosh Ram, Ram Praneet, Sanjay Ram and Harikhan Ram. All the labourers were employed by a contractor.

The injured were admitted in Mancherial Hospital for treatment. postmortem was performed at Sirpur Hospital. Based on a complaint by the workers, the police registered a case as per section 304 (A) and 337 against Engineer Ganeshan, Supervisor Gopinath and investigation is on.

Kagaznagar Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier, ASP YV Sudeendra and DSP BLN Swamy visited the spot.
