4 held for preparing hooch
Warangal: The Task Force police on Thursday arrested four persons on charges of preparing adulterated toddy. The arrested have been identified as Kamredddy Nagendra, Parakala Naveen Kumar, Godishala Yugender and Juluri Raju of Warangal. According to the Task Force, the gang used to prepare spurious toddy with ammonia, saccharin powder, soapberry etc.
The police said that during interrogation, one of the accused, Kamareddy Narender, said that he had taken the toddy compound at Laxmipuram under Inthezargunj police station limits on lease from Pogaku Sarangapani. The police said that the gang was supplying the spurious toddy to five shops - Ramakrishna of Kashibugga, Sambaiah of LB Nagar, Kalamma of Gutta, Ravi of Laxmipuram and Satyam of Under Bridge locality in Warangal at Rs 30 per packet, earning Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 a day.
The police recovered 300 litres of spurious toddy and ingredients used for the preparation of toddy, besides a two-wheeler used for the transportation. The owner of the compound Pogaku Sarangapani is absconding. The accused have been handed over to Inthezargunj police for further legal action.
