4 held for setting watchman on fire in Hyderabad

The city police on Saturday arrested four persons for involving in the murder of a watchman who was set on fire and succumbed to burn injuries on Friday in Old Bowenpally.

The arrested identified as Thumukunta Madhava Reddy (55), Samala Madhava Reddy (49), Jakkula Surender Reddy (50) and their driver Dami Naresh Singh.

All the four accused set the watchman Y Sharanappa (48) on fire in the early hours on December 7. Sharanappa who sustained 40 percent burn injuries died on Friday night at Gandhi Hospital. The accused went absconding after the incident and were travelling to other states to escape from getting an arrest.

Thumukunta Madhava Reddy along with his associates S Madhav Reddy, Surendar and 13 others demolished the compound wall of a property. They also thrashed the security guard and his wife who is guarding the property. The victim Sharanappa who was residing in the watchman's house also spoke against the accused.

S Madhava Reddy who was residing in the street felt insulted after Sharanappa raised his voice against the former. Developing grudge over him, the accused along with T Madhava Reddy in an inebriated state set him afire.
