4 lakh fish seedlings released into LMD in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: The fishermen present across the State must develop financially without falling victims to the middlemen and brokers, stated Health Minister Eatala Rajendar.

He released about four lakh fish seedlings into Lower Manair Dam reservoir, which are supplied to fishermen societies on 100 per cent subsidy by the government, at Thimmapur in Karimnagar on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rajendar said that the State government is introducing various innovative schemes for the economic development of weaker sections of the people present across the State. Under Mission Kakatiya, various tanks and lakes present across the State are restored along with introducing Fish Rearing Scheme for the betterment of fishermen community. Under which, the government is sanctioning fish seedlings on 100 per cent subsidy along with nets, mopeds, autos and DCM vans to the fishermen.

Stating that it is the responsibility of the fish cooperative societies to protect the fish seedlings that were released in Lower Manair Dam, he urged the fishermen to utilise the opportunity provided by the government.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kanumalla Vijaya and local MLA Gangula Kamalakar said the government is determined for the development of the fishermen community. The government will sanction fish seedlings in about 10 phases in the coming days along with releasing them in the lakes and tanks present across the district, which the fishermen must utilise it, they added.

Thimmapur ZPTC Shailaja, MPP Vanitha, Sarpanch Srivani, Deputy Director of Fisheries department Khadir Ahmed, District Fisheries Cooperative Society former president Laxman, Revenue Divisional Officer Anand Kumar, LMD Marketing Chief Promoter Swamy and Mallesham were present along with others.
