47 more Covid-19 cases in Telangana, tally reaches 1,414
Hyderabad: Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Telangana with 47 fresh cases reported on Thursday.
Thus the total cases count stood at 1414. GHMC contributed 40 cases while two were migrants (one from Nalgonda and other from Jagtial) and five from Ranga Reddy district outside of GHMC limits. Thus far 37 migrants tested positive in the state.
Among the 34 died till date, 27 are males while 7 are females. Among the fresh cases reported on Thursday, a 30-year old techie with no travel history or contacts history tested positive much to the shock of health officials.
He has been working from home since lockdown and just went out sometimes to fetch groceries and had no clue how he got infected.
The techie visited Fever Hospital on May 10 and no test was conducted as he had no symptoms. He visited a corporate hospital in Banjara Hills later.
His sample was sent for testing on April 13 and it turned out positive. The techie alleged that he was given a bill of Rs 80,000 much to his surprise.
After his result, tests were done on five members of the family including mother and results are awaited.
Meanwhile, the Centre issued fresh guidelines to use one time RT-PCR based pool sampling for surveillance purposes for migrant workers in institutional quarantine facilities, international passengers in state quarantine facilities/hotels and for surveillance purposes in green zones.
A group of 25 people will be identified for this testing.
