5 Bajrang Dal activists arrested for creating havoc on Valentine's Day
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Commissionerate's Madhapur police arrested five Bajrang Dal activists by name N Ajay Singh (26), V Arjun (23), K Santosh (20), G Pavan Kumar (24) and P Tirupathi (22) on Saturday on the allegations of resorting to vandalism on Valentine's Day on Friday and creating havoc in areas where IT firms are located.
According to Madhapur Zone DCP A Venkateswar Rao, while people were celebrating Valentine's Day, 10 to 15 activists of Bajrang Dal moved in a group on two wheelers from KPHB towards HiTec City and vandalised an ice cream shop.
They moved on the roads with flags raising slogans against the celebration of Valentine's Day and created havoc in the malls such as Sarath City mall, Bikanervala and at Inorbit mall etcetera in the areas of Gachibowli, Kothaguda and Madhapur.
On receipt of information, when police rushed to Inorbit mall, the accused escaped from the spot.
Based on the complaints, police registered cases under various sections in Madhapur and Gachibowli police stations and took up investigation. After verifying the CCTV footage, police identified the accused and apprehended the five activists.
They have been produced before the court for judicial remand. Police have also identified some more accused as Subash, Kiran, Datta Sai, Sai Reddy, Venkat and others and efforts are on to arrest all of them.
