5 held; 2,700 kgs of black jaggery seized in Nagarkurnool
Nagarkurnool: In a major crack down, the excise officials in Kalwakurthy mandal of Nagarkurnool district on Wednesday seized 2,700 kgs of black Jaggery that was being smuggled from Hyderabad to Achampet.
As part of regular vehicle checking, the police were conducting regular vehicle check on the outskirts of Kalwakurthy mandal.
During the inspection, the police spotted a Tata-Indica car and Ashok Leyland vehicles carrying 90 bags of black jaggery. The police informed the excise officials, who immediately seized 2,700 kgs of black jaggery and another three bags weighing about 270 kgs of chemicals used for making alcohol. Excise police of Kalwakurthy informed that they had arrested five persons involved in the smuggling of black jaggery used for manufacturing illicit liquor. A case has been booked against them and were sent to remand.
