5th Corona case gets reported in Telangana state
Hyderabad: Telangana registered a positive Covid-19 case on Tuesday taking the total count to five. Of them, one has been cured and the remaining four are being treated in Isolation Ward at Gandhi Hospital. The fifth infected case is that of a 58-year-old man belonging to Indonesia.
He is part of an 11-member group comprising 10 Indonesians who were shifted from Karimnagar government medical hospital to Gandhi on Monday after developing related symptoms. The Health department is engrossed in tracking the route of this group since it landed in the country.
It is learnt that they have entered Telangana on March 9 or 12. As of now the remaining 10 members of the group are being treated as primary contacts and their health condition is being closely monitored.
However, authorities suspect this group came in contact with locals during their few days stay in the State and are on the job to identify them.
Apart from these 11 members, another 122 primary contacts of the other three positive cases, including family members and friends who have got in touch with them are under the close observation of the department. Sample tests were done on parents of some of them already and they have come out negative.
Elaborating these details at a press briefing in the command control centre in Koti, Health Minister Eatala Rajender said that good thing to be noted is no one on Telangana soil has been affected and there is no spread of the virus among locals until now in the State.
He added that 66,182 persons were thermally screened at Hyderabad airport. Samples were collected from 464 persons out of which only five have tested positive in Telangana. He stated that people from various districts returning from abroad are being kept in quarantine in government hospitals in districts itself.
Also, asymptomatic passengers coming with recent travel history to seven worst-affected countries, including China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, France and Germany are being kept in 14-day quarantine in government chosen locations in Vikarabad and Dhulapally forest academy.
Until now 55 persons are kept in Vikarabad Haritha Resort and another 14 in Dhulapally.
