621 polling centers set up in Nizamabad district

Nizamabad: Filing of nominations for the municipal elections concluded on Tuesday and the district administration is busy in providing infrastructure to the polling centres, ballot papers printing, making ballot boxes available across the Nizamabad district.

District Collector C Narayana Reddy reviewed the arrangements for conducting the elections in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, Bodhan, Armoor and Bheemgal municipalities as per the directives of State Election Commission. Final voter list was released and the officials are taking steps to distribute polling slips.

As many as 4,35,833 voters will decide the fate of the candidates in the four municipalities in Nizamabad district.

There are 3,06,544 voters in Nizamabad Corporation, including 1,57,468 female and 1,49,060 male. There are 16 transgender voters.

There are 62,375 voters in the 38 wards of Bodhan with 62,375 voters. Of this, 31,651 are female and 30,727 are male voters. Armor has 36 wards with 55,016 voters, including 28,414 female and 26,600 male voters and two transgender voters. In Bheemgal, there are 11,900 voters with 6,279 women and 5,621 men.

About 621 polling centres have been set up in the four municipalities of Nizamabad district. 413 polling stations were set up under Nizamabad Corporation. 104 polling centers have been set up in Bodhan, 80 polling stations have been set up in Armoor and 24 polling stations in Bheemgal.

3,105 polling personnel recruited

A total of 3,105 personnel was employed for polling duty in the four municipalities. An additional 20 per cent of staff is reserved. Polling officers, assistant officers and other election staff were given training.

Ballot boxes were already kept ready by District Panchayat Officer P Jayasudha. The boxes used in the last village panchayat elections will be used in this election. Ballot papers will be printed in accordance with the allotment of symbols.

District Collector C Narayana Reddy reviewed the arrangements for the municipal elections and issued directions to the authorities in this regard.
