Warangal: The hurdles that held back the construction of proposed road over bridge (RoB) parallel to the existing one at Fathima Nagar seems to be over with the State government releasing Rs 78 crore a couple of days ago.

This was disclosed by Warangal Urban District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil, who reviewed the measures to be taken to speed up the RoB works here on Monday.

Referring to the heavy traffic on the Kazipet–Balharshah railway line, the Collector discussed at length about the safety measures to be taken beforehand the commencement of work. He told the R&B and Railway officials to come up with an action plan as early as possible.

He said that utmost care should be taken to protect the Railway signalling, communications, NPDCL electricity lines, GWMC water supply pipelines before launching work on RoB. It's learnt that Rs 3.68 crore will be paid to Railways as deposit towards lease of land admeasuring 1.5 acre. Patil directed the R&B officials to get the permissions for civil and communication works.

R&B Executive Engineer L Rajam, DEE K Manohar, railway divisional signalling engineer Shiva Kumar and senior section engineer Sarangapani were among others present.

It may be mentioned here that the State government gave green signal a couple of years ago for the construction of second RoB with the existing one witnessing huge traffic snarls. However, the work on RoB is yet to get underway, initially due to hiccups in land acquisition and then failing to find bidders for the work.

The existing bridge constructed across the Kazipet-Balharsha railway line in 1978 is not only vital for the city dwellers but also to transport vehicles passing through the National Highway-163 that connects Hyderabad-Bhopalapatnam.
