88th birth anniversary of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam celebrated in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: The 88th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, were held on a grand note across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar on Tuesday. Marking the occasion, Devarkadra MLA Ala Venkateshwar Reddy took part in a programme celebrating birth anniversary of the Missile Man and later inaugurated the statue of the great leader at Kukuntla village of Devarkadra mandal in the district.

Mahbubnagar Zilla Parishad Chairman Swarnasudhar Reddy, senior TRS leaders and the villagers took part in the programme. In another programme organised by Abdul Kalam Youth for Rural Development Organization in Pebbair mandal of Wanaparthy district, the organisers conducted an awareness programme on the adverse effects of plastic and measures to eradicate it. The youth organisation celebrated the birth anniversary of Abdul Kalam at the Subhas Chowk in the town. Pebbair SI Vijay Kumar attended as the chief guest to the programme.

Later, the youth organisation members took part in a rally to spread the awareness about the harmful effects of use of plastic to the shopkeepers, roadside hackers and other vegetable vendors in the Pebbair market. They also distributed cloth bags to the vegetable vendors and shopkeepers and urged them to stop using plastic and adopt using cloth bags.

Sri Rangapur SI Shashi, PACS Chairman Gouni Kodandram Reddy, Government Junior College in-charge principal and others participated in the programme.
