Absenteeism plagues electricity DE office

Zaheerabad: Absenteeism seems to be common at the Electricity department DE office here. Though rules say that all employees should be in office by morning 10, no one is bothered about them. In fact, they have to stay locally and attend to duties punctually.

When The Hans India visited the office by 10:30 am on Monday, the office looked deserted. No employee was found except the sweeper. All the chambers and chairs were empty. When contacted, DE Jayaramulu answered that he would be there soon.

The other employees arrived leisurely after another half an hour. People who came to the office for some work criticised the attitude of the employees. They were surprised why no action was taken against the erring staff. They appealed to higher officials that action should be taken on the employees who are callous on their duties.
