AC technician held for chain snatching

Hyderabad: The South Zone Task Force sleuths on Friday nabbed a chain snatcher and recovered 12 grams gold from his possession. According to Task Force police, the accused was identified as Mohammed Imran (27), an AC technician, residing in Golconda.

The accused due to financial constraints discontinued his studies after class VII and started working as a labourer.

When he got acquainted with other criminals identified as Afroz, Jaffar and Irfan, all residing in Golconda, he started committing chain snatching offenses under the limits of Vanasthalipuram in 2014.

He was arrested and later released in August 2017. Due to financial problems, he again started to commit chain snatching and did recce in the areas of Yakutpura under Reinbazar police station limits and targeted an old lady of Brahmanwadi in Upparbasthi, who has a habit of sitting alone in front of her house.

He started talking to the old lady and continued talking to her for two consecutive days and gained her confidence.
