Adilabad: Tribal farmers told to sell their produce at CCI, IKP procurement centers only

Adilabad: District Collector D Divya told the tribal farmers to sell their produce at the procurement centres of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) and Indira Kranthi Pathakam (IKP) only. She attended a meeting with agriculture officers and tribal farmers on cotton procurement at Komaram Bheem complex in Utnoor in Adilabad district on Thursday.

The Collector informed that CCI procurement centres has been established at Narnoor and Indervelli mandals and they will start purchasing from Monday (November 18). CCI will give Rs 5,550 to cotton with 8 per cent moisture content and will purchase cotton with 12 per cent moisture at a different price.

Purchasing centres in Mahagoan and Gadiguda under Narnoor

mandal, Vadgoan and Sirikonda under Indervelli mandal, and Narsapur B under Utnoor mandal will start soon. In future, GCC will also open purchasing centres.

The Collector asked the farmers not to believe middle-men and private traders and get cheated by them. Agricultural officers will conduct meetings in their villages and explain them about the benefits of selling at purchasing centres, she said. The agricultural officers were told to create awareness among the farmers to dry their cotton before coming to the purchasing centres and CCI

will credit the amount into the bank accounts of the farmers within

three days.

ITDA Project Officer Krishna Aditya told the officers to arrange banners at purchasing centres mentioning the names of villages that should sell their produce.

Former Adivasi Advisory committee chairman Kanaka Lakkay Rao, district Medi Durga Patel and CCI officers, farmers were present.
