Telangana Planning Board Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar met former Governor Rangarajan on Friday. Rangarajan said, "once irrigation picks up, the State government should concentrate on the 'Sale of the Produce'.
It is better to think of the Food processing Units immediately. Telangana is producing good cotton so it will be advantageous if the State government can thing over spindles."
The former RBI Governor said that it was a blessing for Telangana to have huge amount of land available for setting up of industries and this was very favourable for setting up of Food Processing Industries and Manufacturing units particularly as PSU's, which are now in a bad shape.
He also said that due to recent Corporate tax cut announcement especially for the new manufacturing units to 15 per cent from previous 30 per cent by Centre, Corporate companies were in mood to set up new manufacturing units instead of expanding the existing ones and Telangana should take advantage of this.
Rangarajan said the Planning boards in the States and NITI Aayog at centre should act as a think tank to the governments and plan as per the requirements of the governments and also by reviewing and improving the ongoing programmes and schemes of the governments and also to bring new plans according to the requirements of the contemporary Society.
