Akshaya Patra sets up centralised kitchen in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: The Akshaya Patra Foundation has set up a centralised kitchen at Nawabpet mandal in Mahbubnagar district. The kitchen was set up at a cost of Rs 3 crore with an to provide hot and nutritious mid-day meals to government school children.

The foundation which has joined hands with CLP India has set up the new centralised kitchen with state-of-art infrastructure facilities. Through this advanced kitchen, the foundation is expected to supply hot and nutritious mid-day meal to over 26,000 government school children across five mandals which include Nawabpet, Devarkardra, Koilkonda, CC Kunta and Addakula in the district.

According to Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji, Regional President, Akshaya Patra, as part of the collaboration with CLP India, Akshaya Patra's role will be confined to operation of kitchen and supply of the food to the school children, while CLP India's role is to fund the design and construction of the kitchen and give financial aid to the day-to-day operations of foundation. "Akshaya Patra foundation has been serving mid-day meal to lakhs of school children across India. We are serving hot and nutritious food to thousands of schools across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We are committed to deliver our services with more dedication and commitment," observed Regional President of Akshya Patra. Earlier, the mid-day meal in the government run schools was operated by the school authorities and mid-day meals were providing by self-help group agents from their respective villages. However, after observing various discrepancies, the State government has decided to hand over the task of providing mid-day meals to Akshaya Patra Foundation. Though many groups and agencies decried the government's decision to hand over the responsibility of providing mid-day meal to Akshya Patra, however after witnessing the quality of service provided by it to the students, it has been welcomed from all quarters.

"With centralised kitchen at Nawabpet, we will supply hot and nutritious food as per the government's menu to all the government schools located in 5 mandals across Mahbubnagar, we have dedicated thermal protected vehicles which will transport hot food to the students in their respective schools. More than 26,000 students will be supplied with hot and nutritious food from this central kitchen," Subala Sakha Dasa, PR manager of Akshaya Patra foundation said.

N Rajesh, District Education Officer Mahbubnagar inaugurated the centralised kitchen at Nawabpet recently. Rajiv Mishra, Managing Director, CLP India, Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji, Regional President, Akshaya Patra along with others were present during the inauguration.
