All eyes on KCR’s meeting with Modi

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's proposed 3-day visit to Delhi has raised considerable interest among the political circles here.

Political circles are watching if KCR would get the appointment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and if so what advice he would give regarding the ongoing strike by farmers who have laid siege to Delhi and are in no mood to relent till the Centre withdraws the three farm laws. This issue assumes importance since the Telangana Government had opposed the new laws by organising a state bandh in which all ministers participated.

CPI national secretary K Narayana in a statement asked the CM to meet the farmers during his stay in Delhi and express his solidarity with them.

KCR, however, would be meeting Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman and other Union ministers. KCR would submit a memorandum to her requesting the release of funds for disaster management activities following the recent floods in Hyderabad and pending GST dues. The CM will also raise the issue of the release of the central grants to various departments which have been pending for a long.

In the wake of reports that Convenor of Group of Ministers (GoM) on IGST Council Sushil Kumar Modi is quitting the post and the Centre is planning to allot the post to Finance minister of a Southern state, sources said that the issue of nominating Telangana Finance minister T Harish Rao to the post is likely to figure in the meeting between KCR and the Union Finance Minister.

He is also contemplating to participate in all opposition parties meeting on the three farm laws which are likely to be organised by NCP chief Sharad Pawar. He will also visit the land allotted for Telangana Bhavan in Delhi and is likely to finalise the designs of the building.
