All parties demand restoration of Singareni Passenger train in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: Demanding restoration of the Singireni Passenger train and withdrawal of Push-pull train, all parties' leaders organised Maha Deeksha programme on Kothagudem railway station premises on Friday.

Leaders of Congress, TRS, TDP, CPI, CPM, CPI ML (New Democracy), Jana Sena, BSP, TPF Akhila Bharata Yadava Sangham and others participated in the protest.

Meanwhile, Kothagudem MLA VanamaVenkateswar Rao also extended his support to the protest. He promised that he would make serious efforts to address the issue as thousands of travellers are facing trouble while travelling in Push-pull train.

The MLA stated that he would speak to the SCR authorities and, if required, would take the matter to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seeking him to put pressure on the railway officials.

Former MP Midiam Babu Rao, CPI State Secretariat member Sabir Pasha, TRS leader and Kovvur Railway Line Sadhana Committee leader K Panduranga Charyulu, New Democracy leader L Viswanatham who inaugurated the deeksha demanded the SCR authorities to respond immediately and restore conventional Singareni Passenger Train.

Insufficient lavatories and seats in Push-pull train are causing serious inconvenience to passengers. The people of the coal belt area were connected by the Singareni Passenger train which had been running for over 45 years, they said.

YadavaSangham leader JangaShyamchander, CPM leader Jalaal Mohammed, TDP leader K Satyanarayana (Chinni) and others said that travelling in Push-pull Train has become troublesome for elders, patients as well as children as there is only one lavatory for three coaches.

The leaders threatened to obstruct the coal wagons moving from Kothagudem and stage rail-rokos all over coal belt area if the South Central Railway (SCR) fails to restore conventional Singareni Passenger train.
