All party meet on Uranium mining on September 16

Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary V Hanumantha Rao on Friday said they would hold an all-party meeting on Uranium mining in Nallamala Forest on September 16 at Daspalla Hotel. He said the meeting would be held under the aegis of Uranium Vyatireka Porata Samithi.

Addressing the media, Hanumantha Rao said TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Janasena Party president Pawan Kalyan, CPM State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, TDP State unit president L Ramana, former MLC Prof Nageswar, TJS president Prof Kodandaram, Telangana Inti Party president Cheruku Sudhakar, environmentalists professor Purushotam, Professor Anand Rao would take part in the meeting.

He said Uranium extraction would damage the entire Krishna river valley area and also cause huge damage to flora and fauna of the area. Noting that nuclear power was needed for the country, he said it should not be produced at the cost of damaging the Nallamala Forest. He said they would go to the public after the meeting of the all-party leaders.

Meanwhile, the Pradesh Congress Committee has appointed a committee under the leadership of Hanumantha Rao to fight against mining of Uranium. Nagarkurnool DCC president Vamshi Krishna and others are part of the committee.
