Ameenpur: CPI(M) district committee member Naini Narsimha Reddy on Tuesday demanded shifting of the wine shop located amid residential colonies in Ameenpur municipal limits. He joined the dharna held in front of tahsildar's office by women and members of the Bramarambikanagar Welfare Association after taking out a rally. They raised slogans against location of the liquor shop.

Addressing the protestors, Reddy stated that the wine shop was causing inconvenience to nearby school students, employees and women, while urging officials to shift it. He pointed out that the staff of a nearby school and petrol bunk, besides those waiting at bus-stop were facing inconvenience by the running of the wine shop.

The CPI(M) leader alleged that the Excise and Prohibition department officials failed to react to the party's representation to re-locate the wine shop. He questioned the department's silence even after public representatives expressed their opposition to the shop.

Reddy wanted the department officials to at least now react to the public sentiments, shift the shop and provide protection to the colony women. Among the protestors were CPI(M) mandal leaders George, Srinivas Reddy, Jilani, Balakrishna, Mahila Sangham leaders Lalitha, Sunita, Padma, Sujata, Lavanya, Ramulu, Lingamayya, Raju and association members.
