Amit Shah to kickstart BJP membership drive tomorrow

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Hyderabad on July 6 (Saturday) at 3 pm to kick start the party's membership drive in Telangana.

Disclosing this while addressing media here on Thursday, State unit president K Laxman said Shah will arrive at Rajeev Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad. From there, he will directly go to Mamidipally village under Pahadesharif.

He will join for tea calling on a Girijan family in the village and enrol them as party members. Then, the Home Minister will launch the membership enrolment drive at KLCC convention centre in Shamshabad.

Laxman said the party has 11 crore members which are higher than the eight crore party membership of the communist parties.

"BJP is the world's largest party with the most popular leaders in the world Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its leader.

While the Prime Minister will be launching the membership drive from Varanasi on Saturday morning, the party chief will launch the same from Hyderabad," he added.

Later, in the evening Amit Shah will meet 20 senior leaders of the party at a private hotel over dinner to chalk out the action plan to be rolled out Telangana.

He said the party national leadership has decided to add an additional 20 per cent membership to the existing 11 crores in the country.

However, in Telangana, it was decided 40 per cent more members. "Currently, the BJP membership in the State is 18 lakh, and it was decided to add 12 lakh more.

The sole aim of the membership drive was to bring in all sections of the society with the sole objective to unseat the dynastic politics of the TRS from the power and install BJP-run government in 2023 in Telangana," he said.

That apart, there will be 52 visits of the Union Minister spread over a period of one year in a year to the State.
