Review meeting ahead of Bakrid festival at the Collectorate conference hall in Asifabad on Monday

Asifabad: Stating that animal sacrifice is a crime, District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu appealed not to sacrifice goats during Bakrid, during a review meeting on law and order here on Monday. Superintendent of Police Mallareddy also present during the meeting.

The Collector asked the Muslim brethren to celebrate Bakrid, falling on September 12, peacefully. He told them to kill sheep and goats in slaughterhouses only in accordance with the law of animal cruelty. Check posts were set up at Wankidi, Kerameri and Ribbena to stop cattle smuggling. Speaking on the occasion, SP Mallareddy said that they have increased surveillance as the cattle trafficking is likely to occur in Maharashtra.

He warned of taking stringent action against those, who break law and order.District Veterinary Officer MM Khan, Subhani, Siddiq, Qadir and others were present at the meeting.
