Arrangements in full swing for conduct of Lok Sabha polls
Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana Dr. Rajath Kumar said that all the arrangements for conduct of elections in 17 Parliamentary Constituencies in the State are in full swing. He also informed that all the EVM-VVPAT Machines have reached their destinations, including the Nizamabad Parliamentary Constituency.
The CEO said that special attention was being paid to Nizamabad Parliamentary Constituency were a large number of 185 candidates are in fray. Elaborate arrangements are being made at all 1,788 Polling booths spread across two districts of Nizamabad and Jagtial. Each polling booth will have 12 ballot units with each having EVM-VVPAT and control unit, he said adding that more than the required machines are being kept in the constituency.
As many as 600 engineers are being deployed in all 17 constituencies to check the functioning of the machines.
The CEO will visit the Nizamabad constituency on Friday to review on the arrangements. He will also hold a meeting with the representatives of political parties, contesting candidates and the Booth Level Officers. Special programme has been arranged for this constituency. About 3,000 posters mentioning the names of the candidates and their symbols will displayed at every polling booths and at other important places for the convenience of voters to identify the candidate and symbol in Nizamabad, he said.
Special arrangements and shaminas will be arranged at all polling booths to accommodate 185 Polling Agents at each polling station in Nizamabad, he said.
Rs. 32.51 crore cash seized
The Chief Electoral Officer has informed that Model code of conduct is being implemented strictly and as on today, cash, liquor and other materials worth Rs. 39.10 crores have been seized. This include cash of Rs. 32.51 crores, liquor worth Rs. 3.55 crores and other materials such as Gold, Silver, Gift articles, etc., worth Rs. 2.74 crores.
