Ashwathama Reddy's strike disrupted; shifted to OGH
Hyderabad: TSRTC JAC convenor Ashwathama Reddy's indefinite hunger strike was disrupted by police on Sunday evening after his BP and sugar levels dropped. He was shifted to Osmania hospital for treatment.
Tension prevailed at the residence of JAC convenor in BN Reddy Nagar in Meerpet as police forcibly tried to shift Ashwathama Reddy, who was on hunger strike since Saturday morning.
According to JAC leaders, Ashwathama Reddy is a diabetic and takes insulin injection regularly. Due to the fast his health condition started to deteriorate and a doctors team also checked him.
Police had planned to pick him up on Saturday itself but backed out after Reddy locked himself in the house by locking the iron grill doors at the entrance and continued his hunger strike.
On Sunday, the police team entered into his house with large number of police personnel and took him into custody.
Earlier, a large number of RTC employees and his supporters were seen gathering at his house worried over his health condition.
Security was also beefed up at Osmania hospital premises where he was undergoing treatment. Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) President Professor M Kodandaram along with other leaders visited the Osmania hospital and enquired about his health.
