Asifabad: Stop digging trenches in tribal lands
Asifabad: Congress Sirpur Assembly constituency in-charge Dr Palvai Harish Babu on Wednesday inspected the trenches, which the forest officials are digging on the outskirts of Nagepalle and Mogavelly villages under Bejjur mandal in Asifabad district.
Later speaking with the media, Dr P Harish Babu said that forest officials have been digging trenches in Adivasi lands, which they have been cultivating form decades. At least 50 people in Nagepalle village were given forest title by the then Chief Minister late YS Rajashekara Reddy of Congress. The District Collector, Kagaznagar DFO and ITDA PO were signed the title deed. For the past 80 years, the tribal farmers have been cultivating the land, he said.
Harish Babu alleged that after the TRS government came to power, the attacks on tribals have been increased. Informing that podu farmers have been cultivating 30,000 to 40,000 acres in Sirpur constituency, he demanded the government to stop digging trenches immediately.
Party leaders Srivardhan, Tajuddin, Lingaiah, Tirupathi Goud, Mogavelly former sarpanch Kodipe Lakshmi, A Rajaram, Shankaraiah, Umamahesh, Sanjeev, Santosh, Shyam Sundar, Saraiah and others were present.
