Asst prosecutor arrested for taking bribe
Hyderabad: An assistant public prosecutor at JFCM Court in Shadnagar near here was arrested on Monday for allegedly taking Rs 8,000 as bribe, according to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials.
Shakeel Ahmed Ansari allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant not to implicate his mother in a criminal case, the officials said.
Noticing the arrival of ACB officials at his office-cum-residence at Basheerbagh, Ansari tore up the currency notes, threw them into the toilet and flushed them out with a view to destroy the evidence.
However, the torn notes were recovered from the drain and Ansari was arrested, the officials claimed.
The case in question was filed by Keshampet police station in Mahbubnagar.
