Attack on scribe: IG calls for arrest of accused

LB Nagar: Telangana State Journalists Welfare Association submitted a memorandum to IG Nagireddy requesting him to take action on the accused who participated in the attack on news reporter Shiva Kumar of Eturunaagaram in Mulugu district.

Nagireddi ordered district SP for the immediate arrest of the accused in the attack. "The welfare committee has condemned the recent attacks on journalists.

A memorandum was submitted to IG Nagireddy that legal action should be taken against the attackers," says Anamchinni Venkateswara Rao, JSS state president. Speaking on the issue, senior reporter Aeturi Nagaram said, "Thugs who attacked Shiva should be punished harshly.

Exposing the facts has become a curse for journalists." He further added, "If journalists are attacked, they are required to file cases under a non-bailable warrant.

Manda Rajesh, Shankar Babu, Treasurer of JSS State General Secretary Gauti Ramakrishna, Organizing Secretary Sridhar Yala and others were present.
