Avoid plastics, embrace paper, cloth bags: Narayanpet Collector S Venkat Rao
Narayanpet: Stressing on the need for eradication of use of plastics completely from Narayanpet district, District Collector S Venkat Rao launched a one-day workshop to women for imparting training in making of cloth and paper bags which can be used as alternatives to plastics.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said that plastics were causing grave danger to the environment and destroying the earth and its natural vegetation. "Plastics are not easily degradable. They pose great threat to the survival of animals and plants on the earth. It is high time we realise the future complications and adopt alternatives to plastics. As part of this, we have launched the one-day workshop to train the women in making paper and cloth bags that can be used as alternatives to plastics," said the Collector.
Later, the collector took part in a sanitation inspection programme in the villages of Damaragidda mandal and directed the village authorities to chart out a clear action plan and implement it to bring a comprehensive change in the development of the villages.
