Bank officials cheating farmers in Manthani: Kisan Congress

Manthani: Due to the negligence of the officials of various banks, farmers are not receiving insurance to the crops damaged due to unexpected rains, alleged Kisan Congress State coordinator Kache Shashi Bhushan.

Kisan Congress members along with the farmers staged a dharna in front of State Bank of India (SBI) in Manthani mandal of Peddapalli district on Tuesday in protest against the government and bank officials. Later, they submitted a memorandum to District Collector Devasena.

Shashi Bhushan said the farmers didn't get the insurance amount for the last four years and facing lot of troubles, as the officials of State Bank of India and Andhra Bank hadn't paid premium to the insurance companies.

But the bank officials are cutting the premium amount for insurance companies from the loan amount taken by the farmers from the banks, he added.

Shashi Bhushan said many farmers incurred huge loss as their standing paddy and wheat crops were damaged due to the unexpected rains for the last two months in the district, especially in Manthani mandal.

He demanded a probe into the issue by questioning the officials of respective banks, who did not pay premium amount that was paid by the farmers to the insurance companies and do justice to the farmers as early as possible.

Congress leaders S Rajesh, Azeem Khan, farmers P Lingaiah Yadav, Manthini Sathyam, Prabhakar Reddy, Sampath Reddy, Mallaiah were present along with others.
