Banned BT-3 cotton seeds worth 25 lakh seized in Adilabad
Adilabad: Echoda police along with agricultural department authorities have busted a racket involved in sale and supply of substandard cotton seed in Adilabad on Friday. During the joint operation, the authorities have seized 1,250 bags of substandard cotton seeds worth Rs 25 lakhs and arrested three persons.
Acting on tip off, the police conducted search operation in Echoda and arrested Ravikanth, who is running a seeds shop 'Sai Krupa Seeds' along with his father Gangadhar at Echoda mandal and Sainath, who is running seed shop in Narnoor mandal in Adilabad district. All the three persons are residents of Echoda mandal in Adilabad district.
The police seized the cotton seeds at a transport office in Echoda while the banned BT-3 quality cotton seeds were being transported from Gujarat State to Echoda.
Echoda police Inspector N Srinivas, sub-Inspector Pullaiah, constables Amruth Reddy, Vignesh and agriculture officer Kailash were present.
