Banned chilli seeds worth 4 cr seized in Khammam

Khammam: The Enforcement and Vigilance officials seized Rs 4 crore worth chillies seeds at cold storage at Konijerla village in the district on Thursday.
According to officers, on a tip off, the officials conducted raids on the cold storage and found 830 tonnes of chilli seed packets. Immediately, they seized the seeds and registered a case against the persons responsible.
Khammam District Vigilance Inspector B Tirupathi Reddy, speaking to the media, said the banned chilli seeds are very harmful and the seeds are being mixed with food items in the fast food centres and other food selling centres. State Tax officer B Rajender, Agricultural Officer A Srinivas and others took part in the raids.
