Bathukamma is women's pride: Mayor Akula Sujata

Nizamabad: Bathukamma festival is celebrated by the women on a grand scale, said Nizamabad former Mayor Akula Sujata. She participated as a chief guest at the festival celebrations at St Xavier's School at Varni Chowrasta in Nizamabad city on Saturday.

Sujatha said Telangana Jagruthi founder Kalvakuntla Kavitha is the only person, who popularised Telangana culture, language, festivals and traditions worldwide and she is the ambassador of Bathukamma. She explained the importance of Bathukamma festival to students and others on the occasion.

Later, the students enjoyed dancing to Bathukamma songs and played games. Principal Lata Goud, school women teachers, students and others participated in the programme.
