Nagarkurnool: The National Backward Classes Commission Member Achary, who visited Charakonda village under Kalwakurthy constituency of Nagarkurnool district on Friday, met with the people of various villages adjoining the National Highway 167 and took their opinion on the expansion of NH and sought their ideas and suggestions. He also interacted with the farmers and people who are losing their lands and houses in the road expansion.

Speaking on the occasion, Achary said that there were thousands of people who were losing their agriculture lands and houses alongside the National Highway 167. Particularly, the people in the urban towns and villages adjoining the NH are losing their valuable land and houses.

"There is a need for the government to pay adequate compensation for the people who are losing their lands and houses. At the same time, there is also a need for the government to think of alternative methods of taking up laying of bypass roads so that the expansion of NH should not disturb the locals in the urban towns," observed the BC Commission member.

As the NH 167 is being expanded, the single road from Kodad to Jadcherla is being constructed into a four-lane national highway.

However, with the people in the villages and even in the urban towns effected due to the expansion works, they gave representations to BC Commission member and sought his intervention to get adequate compensation for their loss.
