BC leaders meet Sonia, press for 50% quota
Musheerabad: BC leaders from Telangana state led by BC Welfare Association leader Gujja Krishna, who were meeting various national leaders seeking their support for their demand of providing 50% political reservations to BCs, met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday and sought her support on the issue. Among those who met Sonia Gandhi including were Neela Venkatesh, Bhoopesh Sagar, Pruthviraj and others.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Gujja Krisha stressed the need for introducing a BC bill to give BCs 50 % political reservations. While separate bills were introduced for women, SCs and STs for their reservations, no reservation bill was tabled for BCs, who constitute more than 50% of total population, he said. Krishna said that the team requested Sonia Gandhi to support their cause, to which she responded positively. She promised to extend her support if BC bill is tabled in the Parliament, he added.
