Be careful while choosing NRI groom
Hyderabad: Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Incharge of Women Safety Wing, on Thursday said that the brides and their parents should be more cautious while choosing the NRI groom.
She said that after the formation of Telangana State, 574 NRI cases were booked including 248 cases in Hyderabad, 99 cases each in Cyberabad and Rachakonda limits followed by 42 in Warangal, 21 in Karimnagar, 8 in Nizamabad and 7 cases each in Nalgonda, Siddipet and Khammam.
Whereas 6 cases were registered in Mahbubnagar and 5 cases each registered in Ramagundam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Suryapet and Jagityal districts.
She inaugurated the two-day workshop at NRI Cell of its office in Hyderabad on Thursday. The workshop was organised to bring awareness on "know your case and investigating officer" in select cases in the presence of public prosecutors and IOs, complainant is made to know the status and progress of the each case professionally.
Addressing the gathering, she said that the NRI Cell received 73 petitions so far after it was inaugurated on July 17, 2019. Follow up is done and ensured to get registered cases in 70 petitions, of them, 29 cases are under investigation and 41 cases are pending trial.
In 5 cases, LOCs were executed against NRI spouses and in 6 cases, passports of the NRI accused were impounded.
In 3 cases where chances are found for reunion and separation, the cell has interacted with both parties and facilitated to proceed as per law.
She also launched TS IT Cell's "voice over application" through voice messages, first ever by Women Safety Wing on "precautions to be taken while choosing an NRI groom" and "voice message on state TS SHE Team Whatsapp number".
She also released an informative brochure as well as pamphlet on "Services of TS NRI Cell."
