Be ready to move SC on RTC privatisation: CM KCR

Update: 2019-11-10 01:15 IST

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has asked the top officials to get ready to approach the Supreme Court in case the High Court gives a verdict against privatisation of the RTC.

At a 3-hour-long meeting attended by Finance and Transport officials and legal experts at Pragati Bhavan here on Saturday, KCR instructed Advocate General BS Prasad to explain in detail the Cabinet decision on 50 per cent privatisation of the Corporation and submit required documents on the Cabinet proceedings in the next hearing posted on November 11.

"The CM is serious on RTC JAC for approaching the court against the policy decision of privatisation of the Corporation taken by the Cabinet recently.

He wanted the officials to convince the court and get rid of legal obstacles in implementing the Cabinet decisions at the earliest," a senior official said.

Depending on the outcome in the next hearing, sources said that the CM is ready to challenge the High Court decision against the privatisation of the RTC in the Supreme Court.

The Chief Minister also decided not to extend any financial assistance to the Corporation in the future as the court already found fault with the government on the funding issue.

Since the funding issue is sub judice, KCR asked the RTC management to find solutions to overcome the financial constraints on their own.
