Bhadradri boils at 440C; Six succumb to sunstroke

Kothagudem: The Bhadradri-Kothagudem district for the last one week has been under severe heatwave with temperatures touching 44 degrees Celsius. Even in the evening hours, the temperatures are failing to dwindle causing much inconvenience to people.

People especially in mandals of Kothagudem, Yellandhu, Sathupally and Manuguru are fearing to venture out. The industrial town of Palvoncha also recorded an average temperature of 44 degree Celsius in the last seven days. Even the temple town, which is close to River Godavari, also recorded 44.8 degrees Centigrade.

Meanwhile, nearly six persons died due to sunstroke in Khammam district on Monday. According to the official confirmation, the deceased were identified as M Rama Laxmi (55) of Burgumpahad mandal, Patle Kumari (45) of Sathupall, N Pullaiah (45) of Laxmidevipally, Madakam Nageswara Rao (55) and B Venkatesh (55), both from Aswaraopet, and one person whose is yet to be identified. The district people are requesting the government to distribute ORS packets at major centres in the town.
