Bhadradri Brahmotsavams begin

Bhadrachalam: The annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam have begun here on Saturday coinciding with Ugadi festival, which marks the beginning of new Hindu calendar.

On this festival day, priests performed Abhishekam to 'Moolavarulu' (the presiding deities) at the temple in the morning hours of the day. The temple witnessed huge rush of devotees in view of the festival. 'Panchanga Sravanam' and cultural events took place in the evening.

Temple Executive Officer T Ramesh Babu and the priests met Governor ESL Narasimhan in Hyderabad on Saturday and presented him 'Rajapatram', an invitation to attend Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy's Pattabhishekam, scheduled on April 15.

Meanwhile, the Bhadradri temple was gearing up for Sri Rama Navami, the celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, scheduled to be conducted on April 14. The temple and its surroundings were being spruced up and decorated for the occasion.

Works like erecting pandals, putting up barricades, painting, lighting and others were going on at a brisk pace. EO Ramesh Babu said they are making elaborate arrangements with the assistance of different departments for the smooth and successful conducting of the celebrations, at an estimated cost of Rs 84.87 lakhs.
