Bharat Bandh partial in Kamareddy, Nizamabad
Kanareddy/ Nizamabad: Despite the active participation of the leaders and activists of Congress and Left parties in Bharat Bandh held on Monday, poor public response was witnessed in Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts. Banks, petrol banks, autos and buses functioned as usual.
Grocery stores, garment showrooms, business community, educational institutions, government and private offices were closed till 10 am and later worked as usual.
The bandh was successful in Bichkunda, Madnur, Jukkal and Pitlam mandal centers in Jukkal constituency of Kamareddy district. Activists led by All India Congress raised slogans calling for the repeal of controversial agricultural laws and regulation of petrol and diesel prices.
Jukkal former MLA and Congress constituency in-charge Gangaram and CPM leaders demanded that the Central government should immediately reduce hike in gas, diesel and petrol prices.
Gangaram said the anti-people policies implemented by the Central government should be resisted. He alleged that the Centre's policies were causing severe damage to farmers and people in the country. Later, police arrested a few leaders.
CPM Jukkal constituency secretary Suresh Gonda, Congress leaders Darpalli Gangadhar, Vittal Reddy, Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Nagnath, Shankar Patil, Ravi Desai, Gangasagar, Yadaiah, Suchit Kumar, MPTC Suresh and others participated in the bandh.
