Bhatti demands dismissal of State government

Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday demanded dismissal of the State government and imposition of President Rule to prevent the violation of provisions of the Constitution in the State. He said he had made the demand in the wake of the State government engineering defection of Opposition MLAs to the ruling party.

Addressing the media, Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Congress leaders would meet the Governor on March 18 and would submit a memorandum, demanding dismissal of the State government. He said former Union Law minister Virappa Moily would be part of the Congress delegation which would meet the Governor.

The party would launch a campaign, called Prajaswamya Parirakshana Yatra, from March 19. He said that the party leaders would meet President and submit memorandum on the undemocratic rule of the State government. A signature campaign would be taken up against the government and they would also meet the national leaders to inform them about the activities of Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

He said that the defections drama being enacted by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his son K T Rama Rao was abhorrent, mean and disgusting. He said the ruling party was buying the MLAs of the Congress with the money earned through corruption in Irrigation and Mission Bhagiratha Projects.

Bhatti Vikramarka explained that the government has been indulging in arm-twisting methods by encouraging defections to intimidate the Congress from questioning the corruption in Irrigation projects. He said that the government was bent upon wiping out the opposition in the Assembly, so that there would be none to question the corrupt activities. However, the Congress would not be deterred from unearthing the corruption of the ruling party.

He said that the anti-defection law has been made to check the menace of Aya Ram and Gaya Ram culture. He said the Chief Minister could be in fear of an inquiry by the next government at the Centre and that is why he was trying to ensure that there was no opposition.
