Bhatti slams KCR for defections

Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in Assembly Bhatti Vikramarka has strongly condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for encouraging defections in Congress party.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Bhatti alleged that KCR has stooped down to a very low level and recent defections only show the hollowness of his political base where he stands. As a new State, Telangana was expected to act as model for the entire country. However, KCR has been violating the Constitution repeatedly by engineering defections in the opposition party.

Criticising the MLAs who defected to TRS, Bhatti said their victory in last elections was not achieved on individual basis. It was the result of collective efforts wherein thousands of Congress workers gave lot of sacrifices to defeat TRS in those constituencies. However, by defecting to TRS, some MLAs have shown utter disrespect towards those Congress workers and the people of those constituencies who have voted against the TRS.

Bhatti said it was a matter of shame that TRS was misusing power and money to lure Congress MLAs. He said if TRS was so confident of having public backing then it should make the defected MLAs first resign from the Congress party and their membership in Assembly. He said TRS lack guts to face re-elections in those constituencies where people have voted for Congress party.

The CLP leader said that the Congress party would not remain a mute spectator to these unconstitutional and unethical defections and launch a public movement against TRS.
