Bhatti urges Jagan not to attend Kaleswaram inauguration

Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy not to attend the inaugural function of Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation project.

In a letter addressed to the AP CM Bhatti said if Jaganmohan Reddy attends the programme, the soul of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy would bemoan. He said that the Pranahita – Chevella Project which was designed during the YS Rajasekhara Reddy regime has been renamed as Kaleswaram.

He said and added that the project has been conceived with a cost of Rs 38,000 crores and even tenders have been called. During the Congress regime about Rs 10,000 crore was spent.

He said that after the TRS government was formed the cost of the project was revised to Rs one lakh crore. With designs like reverse pumping, the cost of the project has been escalated. Moreover, according to the original design, the water of the project has to be drawn at Tummidihette, he added.

Vikramarka alleged that there was lot of irregularities behind the redesigning of the project. He warned that if Jaganmohan Reddy attends the inaugural, he would be treated as a party to those irregularities.

Bhatti also demanded the Telangana State government to establish a Judicial Commission to examine the tenders of the irrigation projects on the lines of the Andhra Pradesh government.
