Bhongir: Migrant workers carriers of corona?
Bhongir: The migrant labourers coming from Mumbai to their native district are bringing corona virus also along with them. There was not a single corona positive case in Yadadri-Bhongir district before lockdown, but as many as 30 positive cases of Mumbai returnees were reported after the Central government allowed migrant workers to return to their native places. The workers, particularly coming from Mumbai, are tested positive in corona tests. Now it has become a challenge to the officials to find out their primary and secondary contacts.
So far, corona positive cases have been identified in migrant workers, who belong to Aler, Narayanpur mandals, in and around of Choutuppal, Valigonda, Yadagirigutta and Addagudur mandals in the district.
According to in-charge DM&HO Manohar, as many as 2,000 migrant workers returned from Mumbai to Bhongir district. Of them, 42 persons were kept in government quarantine in AIIMS at Bibingar and the remaining were kept under home quarantine. The health teams are checking them daily.
Manohar informed that 30 migrant workers of the district, who came from Mumbai, were tested corona positive and undergoing treatment in Hyderabad. 42 surveillance teams set up by District Collector Anita Ramachandran have been working round-the-clock to identify the people coming from red zone areas and corona suspects.
