Bhupalpally: NCPCR focuses on child right violation cases

Bhupalpally: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been setting up benches across the country for the speedy redressal of child right violation cases, NCPCR Member Pragna Parande said. She was speaking at a camp conducted by the NCPCR here on Friday.

The bench headed by Pragna received grievances on violation of child rights related to five districts - Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Peddapalli, Mulugu, Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural.

"Today we have received about 500 grievances and have delivered redressal to most of them. The complicated cases will be studied at New Delhi before a judgment was passed," she said. Pragna said that most of the complaints were related to the lack of facilities in schools, lack of medical services, issues in villages, environment related issues among others. The bench directed the education department to resolve issues related to drinking water within three days, toilets and sanitary issues in seven days, and basic amenities within a month.

Stating that they have come to know many cases of children being forced to begging, Pragna said that NCPCR is conducting awareness programmes on such issues to weed out the culprits. Nation-wide raids in this regard would be conducted on September 24, she said.

Pragna appreciated Warangal police and the child welfare officials for taking speedy action in the unfortunate incident of rape and murder of nine-month-old infant in Hanamkonda. Welcoming the death sentence given by the Warangal court, Pragna said such judgments would help in deterring attacks against women and children.

District Collector Vasam Venkateshwarlu said that the district administration has been focusing on ensuring the rights of children with the special funds allotted by the Central and State governments.
