Bikes with altered silencers seized in Warangal
Warangal: Despite repeated warnings from the police, the youth in the city continue to make noise with their motorcycles fitted with altered silencers (exhaust pipes). Commissioner of Police V Ravinder, who received numerous complaints in this regard, has directed the traffic wing to conduct a special drive to pick up those bikers causing nuisance.
The traffic police, who launched a three-day special drive, have seized 10 bikes that are fitted with altered silencers and slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on each biker. The police who removed such altered silencers organised ordered the bikers to attend a counselling session along with their family heads.
Traffic ACP Md Mazid said that they have caught a whopping 213 two-wheelers causing sound pollution with altered silencers or fitted with multi-tone horns since March this year. Of the 213 bikes seized, 141 belong to Warangal traffic police station area, 42 Hanamkonda area and 30 Kazipet area. He warned the bikers not to replace the silencers and attract penalties. "The bikes were not only causing noise pollution but also confusing the bypassers and other motorists with the blaring. It may also lead to road accidents," Mazid said. Inspector T Swamy, sub-inspectors Yadagiri and Fasiuddin were present.
