BJP alleges KTR of making false charges with eye on GHMC polls
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana State chief spokesperson K Krishna Saagar Rao said Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao's statements in last two days on the release of Central funds to Telangana are quite deceptive and politically motivated.
Addressing media here on Friday, he said it is evident that the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections are driving this false narrative against BJP and Central government.
The BJP leader said that KTR is trying to mislead people of Telangana on the Centre's financial support to the State by his irrelevant statements.
He said that BJP questions KTR on his logic of expecting all tax collection by the State as its own revenue. His argument is fundamentally flawed and bereft of any understanding of the Centre-State financial relations and tax-sharing provisions laid down in the Indian constitution.
He asked KTR to stop reading comics and start reading the constitution. "Article 268 to 293 part 12 of the constitution outlines the tax revenue sharing provisions and KTR should tutor himself on the same. He seems to be forgetting Telangana is a state in the Indian Union and not a country by itself," he added.
Further, he pointed out that BJP also demands accounts for Rs.1,15,000 crores of devolution, grant-in-aid and another Rs.1,25,000 crores funds through loans and guarantees by the Central government to the State in the last 6 years.
There is hardly any developmental expenditure visible and experienced by the common people of Telangana state. Where did all the funds go? he asked.
He said KTR and TRS leaders should stop misleading people of Telangana with their ingenious theories on Centre-State financial relations suddenly ahead of GHMC elections.
