BJP condemns TSBIE Secretary's remarks
Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit president K Laxman on Saturday condemned the alleged remarks of Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) Secretary Dr A Ashok.
The TSBIE Secretary alleged that the students failed in the IPE-2019 have been ending their lives due to 'mass hysteria.'
Taking serious objection to the TSBIE official's remark Laxman said, "it shows the irresponsibly and impunity with which the Board is functioning against the backdrop of the students taking extreme steps due to its failure."
Expressing shock over Andhra Pradesh MP C M Ramesh's nephew ending his life for failing in the IPE-2019 examination is an indication about how the Board is playing with the precious lives of the students, he pointed out.
He said tens and thousands of students are stressed over the marks awarded in marks list against their expectations. For example, nearly 50,000 students have failed in mathematics examination alone.
Similarly, another student who scored 90 marks in all other papers has shown scoring zero in one paper. Further, the website intended for students to apply for revaluation is not functioning.
The cumulative effect of all this is subjecting the students to take extreme steps, he said.
The BJP leader demanded that the State government conduct a free revaluation of the answer papers for the students applying for the same.
Further, he warned that the party would take up a State-wide agitation on the issues from Monday if the Board fails to respond to its demand of free revaluation of the answer papers by Sunday.
He also demanded that the State government announce a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of the students who have ended their lives on account of the irregularities that took place in the IPE-2019 results.
