Hyderabad: BJP on Sunday flayed the TRS government for failing to prevent the sale of spurious seeds to farmers in the State.

Addressing the media, State BJP general secretary G Premender Reddy wanted the government to tell the people what measureshave been taken to contain the menace of the import of spurious seeds from other parts of the country and selling the same to the gullible farmers and causing irreparable loss to them.

Demanding tough measures against those responsible for the spurious seeds business in the State, he said, "the government claims to make the Telangana as the seed capital, but, the current situation presents a contrary picture as innocent farmers are being taken for a ride by those selling the spurious seeds."

The BJP leader also questioned as to why the State government has so far not able to transfer the financial support to the farmers under the RythuBandhu Scheme (RBS). He said that the government had transferred the RBS funds to the farmers' account before the elections.

However, since the elections are over and despite the State is witnessing the first showers of the monsoon, farmers are yet to receive funds into their accounts under the RBS, he added.

He demanded the government to provide RBS amount to farmers so that they could use them for cultivation. He also wanted to know the number of farmer's names so far provided by the State government to the Centre under the KisanSamman Scheme.

On the political fronts, Premender Reddy said that his party cannot be scared with the TRS resorting to violence in politics against the BJP cadre and leaders.

He also alleged that the TRs is threatening the leaders who were elected in the recently held local bodies elections to join the ruling party.

The BJP condemns the TRS encouraging defections from other political parties and also raised objections to any attempt on the part of the ruling party to give the main opposition status to the MIM in the State Assembly.
