Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Dr K Laxman criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not attending the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to discuss key issues like making agriculture profitable, drought, floods, unemployment, violence and other issues.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, Laxman said the Chief Minister time and again demanded according national project status to the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). He could have utilised the opportunity at the NITI Aayog meeting which was organised under the banner of 'Team India' by the Centre.

"The Chief Minister had time to go to Mumbai to meet Maharastra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis but not to attend the NITI Ayog meeting in utter disregard to the established tradition," he said.

Unlike KCR, his counterpart and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy by following the traditions had raised the issue of granting Special Status for his State.

"Though young and new, the AP Chief Minister attended meeting and raised the issue keeping the interests of people of his State," he said. Stating that KCR had skipped the NITI Aayog meeting as he was not able to face Modi, Laxman said, "KCR had dreamed of becoming a kingmaker at the Centre.

Assuming that BJP would not come back to power, the TRS chief had made baseless allegations and led his election campaign of falsehoods against Modi's government for doing nothing for the development of the State.

The TRS chief is not able to show his face to Modi when BJP has come back to power with a thumping majority," he pointed out.

Taking a dig at the State government, the former BJP MLA said the neighbouring AP had announced interim relief to the employees and appointed a Pay Revision Commission; appointed a committee on resolving the problems faced by the State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) and scrapping of CPS. But, the TS Chief Minister has failed on all these fronts, he said.

Laxman said his party has decided to launch a State-wide agitation on the twin issues of regulation of fee in the private corporate schools and filling up vacancies in the government departments.

As part of the programme, a roundtable conference will be organised on June 18 with parents, students and other stakeholders.

The party youth wing will stage protests across the State on June 19 and 20 to mount pressure on the State government to implement fee regulation in the private corporate schools. Further, the party will take out rallies on June 24 and 28, he said.
